The National Criminal Justice Officer Selection Inventory (NCJOSI)
Developed as an alternative to conventional law enforcement and
corrections officer written entrance examinations. The NCJOSI is unique in
that it combines a traditional cognitive abilities component with a critical
attitude/personality, or officer orientation, component. The combination of
these two components offers a more comprehensive evaluation of the
candidate’s job-fit while reducing the probability that the candidate will fail later
psychological or polygraph evaluations. In addition, the NCJOSI was specifically
designed to screen out a rather large percentage of the applicant pool
(typically 30% to 50%) while displaying little-to-no evidence of adverse
impact against protected classes of individuals.
A detailed NCJOSI User’s Manual accompanies the exam. It outlines the development and validation of the exam,
and provides detailed administration instructions and a sample administration script to help make the testing process
as simple and standardized as possible. Multiple forms of the NCJOSI are available. Test purchase includes NCJOSI
User’s Manual, test scoring, reporting and statistical analysis. NCJOSI Study Guides are also available.

The National Firefighter Selection Inventory (NFSI)
As fire service and personnel specialists know, fire departments need to hire people
who are not only smart, but are also able to work with a diverse group of people,
tolerate stress effectively, and have a
positive attitude about their jobs.
Developed as an alternative to
conventional fire service written
entrance examinations, The National
Firefighter Selection Inventory
(NFSI) is unique in that it combines a traditional cognitive abilities component
with a critical attitude/personality, or firefighter orientation, component. The
combination of these components help to ensure that candidates are mentally fit
to handle the rigors of the job, but also have a personality that will be conducive
to becoming an excellent firefighter. This exam will truly help your department
to select the best!
Multiple forms of the NFSI are available, allowing agencies to use a different
version of the exam for applicants that test often. Test purchase includes
NFSI User’s Manual, including technical information, test scoring, reporting
and statistical analysis. NFSI Study Guides are also available.
